In dit vervolg op de schaatsklassieker The Cutting Edge vliegen de vonken ervan af wanneer de gedreven kunstschaatsster Jackie (Christy Carlson Romano) een apart paar vormt met de stoere in-line skater Alex (Ross Thomas).
Na wat ongewone schaatslessen is Alex in de ogen van de ouders van Jackie, die ooit zelf Olympisch goud wonnen, de perfecte schaatspartner voor hun dochter. Niet alleen de onmogelijke combinatie maar ook het feit dat ze Alex ooit heeft afgewezen zorgt ervoor dat Jackie absoluut niet blij is met de keuze van haar ouders. Maar ondanks dit alles proberen Jackie en Alex op hun weg naar Olympisch goud zo goed mogelijk met elkaar om te gaan op het ijs, maar ook daarnaast. En terwijl de competitie steeds spannender wordt, geldt dit ook voor hun hernieuwde romance...
